Thanks to everyone who took the time to share their thoughts on yesterday’s post about the Wedding Event. Up next, it’s my sincere pleasure to share images from the Wedding Gallery.
The Wedding Gallery is by far, one of my favorite parts of The Special Event. I’ve never been bit by the design bug- I was too busy being bit by the Excel bug.
So the idea of a team coming together and literally pulling together a design out of thin air? Love it!
This year was a particular special Wedding Gallery for those of us who traveled from Richmond, as our friends from Mosaic and FloraCulture came together to create the most amazing of spaces. We actually stayed at the same property as the team and I can attest to the hours upon hours they spent prior prepping. Entering the gallery for the first time really felt like Christmas morning- how amazing to see friends and colleagues from our city represent on the national stage.
I will not speak much to the theme, simply as I could not do it justice but essentially two rooms were created based on the story of a wedding consisting of a groom from the South and a bride from the North. Having seen it up close (most spectacular even in person!), I can tell you that every inch of the gallery space had meaning. The attention to detail was simply phenomenal and I could probably gush on and on for another hour if you let me.
So without further ado, here are some of my favorite photos from their space, courtesy of Meghan McSweeney Photography, who captured the process from start to finish:
We also received some lovely shots from Rebecca Bouck Photography:
Once again, a HUGE kudos to the amazing Mosaic team, as well as the always wonderful Al Brockwell with FloraCulture (did I mention Al stepped in as a panelist for our presentation at the last minute WHILE also producing all of this loveliness?). I’d also like to give a shout out to Joe and Coleen with PaperFreckles, who lent their talents to the initial concept. I am lucky to be surrounded by such talented people!
Thanks for stopping by- more soon!

I know what you’re going to say- OFD who? And frankly, I wouldn’t blame you. But alas, life gets in the way and on a general to do list of 30 or so things, blogging is often #31.
But today, I come bearing photos- pretty ones at that, as I get to give you a glimpse into the amazing Wedding Event I attended this past January at The Special Event in Tampa.
The Wedding Event is always one of my favorite “to do’s” at The Special Event. Last year, I had the pleasure of attending with Jennifer McBride of McBride Events and this year, we ventured out once again to see if they could outdo themselves- this time with Emily Hudspeth along for the ride as well.
Below is one of our very first views when we entered the building–
Shortly thereafter, we enjoyed an amazing Opera singer as our cocktail hour entertainment-
And before long, we were ushered into the dinner-
The designs varied throughout the space and we were lucky enough to enjoy this gorgeous tablescape:
The entire evening took my breath away- I’m sure you can see why!
As lovely as the evening was, I daresay my favorite part was connecting with such an amazing group of attendees at our very own table- while Richmond was representing, we also enjoyed the company of planners from South Africa, Australia and Canada.
I would be remiss if I didn’t send the biggest of kudos to the Wedding Event’s Co-Chairs- Sean De Freitas of Designs by Sean, as well as Lori Randall and Jessica Meiczinger of Simply Divine Events. Rebecca Bouck Photography captured all of the amazing details as well.

I’ve had the chance to see some amazing vintage inspired weddings over the last year. So when this wedding, courtesy of Don Mears Photography, came my way, I knew we’d find it a great spot.
The good news is that Glamour and Grace agreed that the wedding was just as lovely as we did!
Be sure to see the full post on the lovely Glamour and Grace as well as drop by Don and Lindsay’s recent blog feature on the wedding.
Congrats again to Don Mears Photography and thank you to Glamour and Grace for the opportunity!

This week, I have the sincere pleasure of speaking alongside an amazing group of Richmond wedding professionals at The Special Event in Tampa.
Join us this Wednesday at 2pm in Room 13 for Time Crunch, managing the delicate balance between your clients wants and the professionals involved needs on the BIG day.
Brides and their entourages are being bombarded with more and more opportunities and products to dazzle their guests and make their events memorable. As a planner how do you balance it all? It’s our job to “make it happen” and we walk a very fine line, wanting to make our clients happy and leveraging/maintaining our relationships with the event professionals involved in the BIG day process. How do we manage the “stylized” photo shoots in between ceremony and reception, the film maker that needs his shots too, the make up artist and hair stylist that committed to 24 services, and don’t forget the “angry chef that has $37,000 worth of filet mignon turning to rubber if we aren’t seating guests promptly at the designated time.
A BIG thanks in advance to our fabulous team!
Al Brockwell, Owner, FloraCulture
Emily Hudspeth, Owner, Emily Hudspeth Hair Design and Makeup Artist
Jennifer McBride, Producer/Owner, McBride Events
Meghan McSweeney, Owner, Meghan McSweeney Photography
Look forward to seeing you there!

We love a classic ballroom wedding and when the setting is one of Richmond’s most famous landmarks The Jefferson, we immediately knew it would knock everyone’s socks off.
Michelle and Michael’s ballroom wedding, courtesy of PW Photography was featured on the Richmond Weddings blog that produces the local Richmond Weddings Magazine. Congrats to everyone involved!
Kudos to PW Photography and thanks to Richmond Weddings for the opportunity!
