Hello all! We’re taking a break from our usual blogging to share some pretty exciting news. I’m thrilled to be making my way to my alma mater this Friday for JMU Alumni Day to speak on one of the panels, as well as accept the 2014 Distinguished Alumni Award. We’ve included a bit more below! ~Meghan
JMU honors Wedding Marketing and PR Professional with the 2014 Distinguished Alumni Award
RICHMOND, VA (April 7, 2014)— Founder and President of OFD Consulting, Meghan Ely, has been selected to receive the Distinguished Alumni Award for the School of Communications Studies department at James Madison University.
The Distinguished Alumni Award is given every spring to an alumnus who demonstrates outstanding contributions to the discipline and profession, as well as demonstrates outstanding service to the School of Communication Studies, James Madison University, their community, region or nation.
Dr. Corey Hickerson, Ely’s former professor during her undergraduate studies, nominated her for this prestigious award.
“JMU has an exceptional list of distinguished alumni, and I am honored Dr. Hickerson considers me alongside my fellow alum,” shares Ely. “I hope to keep doing what I do best, and make my fellow Dukes proud.”
With her “in-the-trenches” approach to wedding marketing and public relations practices, Ely has set a new bar in the wedding industry. As a regular contributor to The Knot Magazine and WeddingWire Education Expertise, she finds time to work as an adjunct professor at Virginia Commonwealth University. Previously, Ely was honored as one of the “Top 40 under 40” by Style Weekly Magazine.
Ely will be presented the Distinguished Alumni Award on SCOM Alumni Day Friday, April 11.
