Have you Heard? A Royal Wedding!
In case you’ve gone into hibernation now that wedding season 2010 has officially come to a close, the biggest engagement, arguably, of my generation has been announced. My boyhood crush has found his lady love. In other news, I will not be the queen of England (something I came to terms with when I met my match and married him in the geekiest wedding known to man).
Admittedly, I’m a bit protective of this wedding- after all, I’ve been a bonafide Royalty fan girl since I was in the second grade. I have everything from the length of Diana’s wedding train (25 feet!) to the lineage itself down pat. You know those Red Sox fans that intensely dislike new fans that jump on the fan bandwagon once they won the World Series? I may start sympathizing with them soon enough.
Within a couple of hours of hearing the news, I officially (okay, I used Facebook) called it- I would host the Royal Wedding viewing party. Royal family plus weddings plus the idea of a themed event? Don’t mind if I do. Within a few hours of that, I had reached out to my linen contact, found several British flas and secured cupcakes bearing the House of Windsor Coat of Arms. Did I mention that the wedding date hasn’t even been announced yet?
And what does this have to do with OFD you may ask? Well I’m throwing down the gauntlet and challenging my fellow wedding professionals to a party-off. More to come on that in due time.
In the meantime, I need to work on some favors.
