Wedding Marketing: Pinterest for Wedding Pros
I can’t help it- I get a tad obsessive when I really like something.
I completely tried to tone down my love of the Royal Wedding and ultimately threw a party that started at 4:30am and ended up on Good Morning America. I promised myself I’d never watch the soapy, addicting Grey’s Anatomy and suddenly I have a hulu subscription so I could essentially have Izzie and Denny playing in the background over and over again while I worked. And sniffled into my keyboard. What can I say? I only operate on one speed.
So when Pinterest came around, I admit that I was warned by those who knew me to steer clear. After all, who has time to sit around and pin inspiration for painted kitchen cabinets? Well apparently, a lot of people do and they also love the delicious virtual eye candy associated with weddings. So I joined.
For me, it’s a great way to brag on my clients:
And if you’re my husband, it’s apparently the spot where you share your not so secret love of doors (which yes, is a very difficult thing to buy for the holiday season):
For my clients, however, I’ve found it’s a tremendous platform for building yourself as an expert as well as showcasing your portfolio and press. Just take a trip over to the “About Pinterest” page and the number two use of Pinterest is.. well, see for yourself:
And great news if you’re also a wedding blogger, as Pinterest has instructions HERE to install “Pin It” button on your blog, which will ultimately drive more traffic to you. Just one word of warning- if Wedding PR is currently apart of your wedding marketing strategies, remember the delicate balance of exclusivity and avoid pinning anything currently being considered by a wedding blog or magazine.
So while I’m certainly not a proponent of jumping on every single social media bandwagon at once (even Justin Timberlake can convince me that My Space is here to stay), Pinterest has proven to be a must do if ready to bring more social awareness to you and your wonderfulness.
