Here we go- the OFD Kits go live next week!
No big deal. Only a project I’ve been working on for years.
I kid, I kid- I’m doing a happy dance in the middle of my living room- laptop in one hand, coffee in the other.
Since the inception of OFD Consulting five (!!) years ago, I’ve had the pleasure of working with countless wedding professionals throughout the world. Some have been brand new to the business while others have been established vendors looking for a revamp. And I’ve loved it all.
Fast forward several years and it occurred to me that I’d never reach everyone I wanted to with my current business model. One-on-one consulting isn’t for everyone. Some want to be empowered to take the next steps on their own. So I brainstormed. I added things to my (in my head) list. I crossed things off. I made an actual list. I polled colleagues. I commissioned designers. And thus, the OFD kits came to fruition.
Next week I will be launching the first of three in what will be a series of kits designed to assist wedding professionals in taking the next big step for their business. All will be accessible through my web site and you’ll know when they go live because I’ll be shouting it from the roof tops. And instagram.
Today, I will be introducing you to the first, with the others to follow on Wednesday and Friday respectively. So without further ado, allow me to present the Internship Kit:
This kit in particular came to be more out of necessity than anything else. During my college years, I participated in a number of internship programs- from writing for a local newspaper and assisting with marketing and PR at a regional United Way, to my dream internship in Oregon at the Nike world headquarters. When I went out on my own, the hope was to develop my own OFD internship program, which would allow area students to learn the ins and outs of the marketing/public relations world, while also taking things off of my own plate. We’ve had a number of talented folks come through our doors over the years. People took notice and time and time again, I get asked the same question- how do I do this for my own company?
I decided to make the internship kit first priority and I’m thrilled with the results. We’ve developed a number of editable PDF’s to keep you organized and on task with your interns, while also offering a comprehensive webinar walking you through the development and execution of such a program.
A bit more about the kit:
Internships are often mutually beneficial relationships that provide overwhelmed business owners with support and aspiring professionals with the hands-on knowledge they need to pursue careers in the wedding and events industries. It is easy to get bogged down by endless tasks that could be delegated to interns who are willing to step in and want to learn. Yet, many wedding professionals fail to take advantage of the opportunity because they simply don’t know where to start.
The OFD Intern Tool Kit includes a webinar that walks you through the steps of creating your intern program, with worksheets that will organize you and prepare you to lead. The kit will also help you qualify prospective interns to ensure you select the right candidates, and will help you both stay on task. It is the ideal tool for someone who has a desire to teach the next generation of wedding industry professionals and impart their hard-earned knowledge, while gaining invaluable assistance with day-to-day projects and initiatives that help businesses grow.
Check back with us on Wednesday, as I introduce you to my beloved Press Release Kit. See you then!
